IDnet Roadshow Hutch

I didn’t make it to this meeting myself, but Harry Gregory did and he did a fantastic job.

Harry told me there was only 20-25 people there. With the 25-30 people the night before in Emporia, the Roadshow may have reached up to 50 people in 2 nights of work.
Thank you for the audio, Harry.

Calvert’s Audio Part 2

July 17, 2006 at 11:30 pm | Posted in Journal of Anti-Science meetings | 6 Comments

Here is part 2 of the audio recording of Calvert’s July 16, 2006 presentation at Alford Library. It starts after the five minute break and lasts until the end of the meeting.

Calvert Part 2

Once again I thank Harry Gregory for making this audio possible, and I also recommend headphones.

This is in m4a format as well. If you’d like me to upload an mp3 version to download, please leave a message in comments and I’ll get it up here as soon as I can.

MP3 for Part 2 uploaded by request:

Calvert’s Audio Part 1

I’d really like to thank Harry Gregory, a retired school teacher, a member of KCFS, and a very nice man for making the audio possible. We need more like him.
You can stream and download here in m4a:

John Calvert’s Wichita Visit p1.1 7/16/2006

John Calvert’s Wichita Visit p1.2 7/16/2006

John Calvert’s Wichita Visit p1.3 7/16/2006

Or just download in mp3 (WARNING: These files are MUCH larger than the m4a above):

I’ll post Part 2 of the meeting as soon as I get it.

I should note that there is a very strange noise about 5 minutes in to part 1.2. That noise is that of a speeding airplane which Calvert felt necessary to add to his September 11 slide.

The audio is generally a bit difficult to hear clearly, so I recommend headphones.

I’m working on getting an embedded player on here.

Thanks to Bascule for hooking me up with the free podcast service.

Calvert’s Wichita Meeting

July 17, 2006 at 4:31 am | Posted in Journal of Anti-Science meetings | 16 Comments

When “Dr.” John Calvert arrived at the new and attractive Alford Library on South Meridian in Wichita, I was very helpful. I held the door open for him when he walked up because he had a dolly with many bags on it and carrying another one – his hands were full. Before the meeting, he asked me to help him move the table his projector was on so the projected screen would be bigger. Then he asked me to go find him some tape to use because one of the cables he was using had screws in it, but no holes were there to be filled by them. I joked, “Well, that certainly is a bad design,” and then I went and got him some tape from this incredibly nice librarian. I was more than happy to help. I’m always happy to help.

Unfortunately, my helping got him irritated enough that he addressed me during the second half of his presentation and when I answered he said, “Did I ask you to speak?”

It’s crunch time for the Kansas BOE elections. I find it curious that Intelligent Design claims to have no religious ties, but only one of these meetings will be held at a school. The four others are at christian churches.

I’ll do my best to get my extremely poor self to as many of these meetings as possible in search of a valid scientific argument and to try to keep things honest.

John Calvert to present at Alford Library in Wichita on Sunday

July 11, 2006 at 4:41 pm | Posted in Journal of Anti-Science meetings | 2 Comments

Kansas City attorney John Calvert will give a 2 hour presentation on the Intelligent Design theory of creation at the Alford Library on South Meridian on Sunday, July 16th, 2006 at 2PM.

Calvert is one of the figureheads of the Intelligent Design movement in Kansas, and was instrumental in the Kansas Board of Education’s consideration of Intelligent Design. He is, no doubt, giving this presentation to rally support for the anti-science school board members he endorses before the Kansas BOE primary elections next month August.

If I can make it out to the AiG meeting in Studley, KS, (which is in District #5, Connie Morris’s district who voted for the new standards), I may not make it to this one in Wichita. However, I may do both, and if I can’t make it out to Studley, I will certainly be at this meeting.

Please direct as many creationism/intelligent design supporters to this meeting as you can. Thank you for your support and your attention. It’s crunch time.

Apology from the poor

July 8, 2006 at 3:56 am | Posted in Essays, Journal of Anti-Science meetings | 1 Comment

I must apologize.

Due to high gas prices, and my own lack of income, I may not be able to attend either the Meteorite Festival tomorrow or the AiG meeting in Studley. They’re both just out of my reach.

I still have a week to find the money to attend the AiG meeting, which I really feel I must not miss, but I’m not sure if I can find the money.

I’m sorry. I’m trying the best I can. I’m just broke.
